Stuck In A Rut, Meaning?
A boring routine that can be hard to break.
If you’re stuck in a rut, you’ve been doing the same old thing for too long.
Interesting definition and when it comes to my fragrance selection, am I in one or am I not? That is the question!
Over the years I’ve whittled down my fragrance collection to a handful of scents:
- Clinique Wrappings
- CK Be
- Chanel No. 5
- Guerlain Shalimar
- Prescriptives Calyx
- Donna Karan Cashmere Mist
- Jennifer Aniston by Jennifer Aniston
Now depending on your age, the list above will be totally familiar and you’ll endure a flashback to the late 80s, early 90s…let’s do the time warp again!
Or if you’re younger, most of these fragrances will be totally alien to you.
Out of the fragrances I listed above, there really are only two that I regularly wear on a daily basis.
Clinique Wrappings was discontinued for a time. Now it can only be purchased once a year in a gift set from Clinique or Macy’s and a few other places. In case it’s time is limited, I have three gift sets in stock!
CK Be is a little easier to come by, but not mainstream either! Same here, I have two great big bottles on hand when I run out.
Albeit, I’ve smelled and tested lots of perfumes, I’ve come to the conclusion that I really don’t like anything sweet or overpowering. Clean, fresh and on some level ‘like a dude’, is what I’m after.
When I wear Clinique Wrappings, or CK Be, I often get asked, “What perfume are you, wearing? You smell really good.”
So over time, I took to the idea that I had two signature scents. And I still truly love each of them to this day.
Anyhoo, the reason this came up today, is we’re getting ready to head to Seattle for a long weekend. I started thinking about what to pack and fragrance is of course, on the list.
I pondered over the question, “after all these years should I search for a new fave scent or happily stick with my two besties?”.
To be honest, I don’t really enjoy aimlessly wondering around lots of fragrance counters in Nordstrom.
Since I’m open to the idea of exploring new scents, with no idea where to start, I luckily found Katie Puckrik on YouTube.
Her channel is called ‘Katie Purckrik Smells‘, haha. I love that title, a nice little play on words.
She shared thorough reviews on each of her chosen fragrances, pleasant or unpleasant.
Unfortunately, she hasn’t updated her channel in a long, long time. Yet, she’s still widely searched for on the wonder web every day. I’d say that’s a testament to her personality and passion for perfumes.
Thanks to Katie, I’m going to try a few and the one I’m really interested in in Colonia, Acqua Di Parma.
You can check out her quick review on that scent here:
Let me know any favorite perfume recommendations you have, I’d love to discover them too.
There’s one exception to that request; that would be the world’s worst fragrance, Secretions Magnifiques. Phewee. I’m going to pass on that one, thank you very much!
Glow with the flow,
