If you sell (and buy) expensive luxury items on eBay, it’s worth knowing about the newest buyer Paypal scam that’s apparently going on.
Erica, from Erica’s Girly World made the YouTube video, shown above, explaining all the in’s and out’s of how these buyers are working the system to their advantage. I highly recommend watching it.
Top Tips To Protect You, The Seller
- Check the buyer history on eBay. Look for a purchase history and 5 star rating from sellers.
It’s very risky to sell to someone with no history.
- Spend the extra money on Insurance and Signature Confirmation when shipping the item.
- Film yourself, in one take (don’t cut/edit it all) at the Post Office putting the item in the package, sealing it, and actually paying for the shipping. Clearly show the address, weight and tracking number on the receipt too.
From the feedback Erica’s received, after sharing this, it sounds like this buyer scam is happening all over the World.
Keep yourself safe, because in a dispute, Paypal’s initial step is to take the word of the buyer.
Unfortunately, it can take time to clear a dispute and that delays you receiving your funds back. That’s why having a full, unedited recording of the processing the shipment at the Post Office will help expedite a dispute resolution much more quickly.
Hope this helps!
