White Oversized Sweater & High Rise Jeans
I wish I had invented blue jeans.
They have expression, modesty, sex appeal, simplicity –
all I hope for in my clothes.

When it comes to fashion rules, there’s only one rule I follow, trusting my own instinct about what works for me.
Reason being, we’re all different. What looks good to and on one person, may not to another.
Our bodies are different, level of confidence and so much more. Also, times change but the rules seem to stay the same!
So, do I think big chunky sweaters worn with skinny jeans are a good look over 50? Yep, I do.
Skinny jeans over 50 can be worn dark wash, distressed or ripped. I’m not as big a fan of light wash as they tend to make most people look a bit heavier in the legs.
If you’re in the market to purchase a pair of distressed jeans, I can highly recommend the one’s I’m wearing from Target.
They’re versatile and can be casual or dressed up.
I chose to team them with an off white oversized sweater from Free People NYC. They sell gorgeous fall sweaters!
This outfit is casual, on trend and very comfortable. A big part of the comfort comes from wearing high waisted vs mid or low rise jeans…and there’s no muffin top!
So that I can layer up and down, I teamed my sweater with a vintage Hermes scarf.
It’s not easy to see it in these photos so I’ll do a separate post, because she is well worth investing in.
I LOVE this scarf because of her neutral colors.
It took me a while to find Hermes colors and a pattern I really liked and I’ll also share my tips on making the right decision for you.
You’ll see me wearing my Louis Vuitton GM Montsouris backpack often, she’s an oldie but a goodie.
If you’d like to read my review on her and my other LV bags and SLGs, leave a comment below. I’d be happy to share about cost per wear, durability and functionality and what matters most to you.
I think age is just a number and perspective; there are old young people and young old people. This article on aging and perspective from the BBC is pretty interesting and I think you’ll enjoy it and would love to hear about what you agree with and what you would like to add too. Feel welcome to comment below, I’d love to hear from you.
